Video Conferencing Resources

September 11, 2025

Whether directly to the patient in their home, or in a local clinic setting using live video technology is a key telemedicine delivery method.  Some of the major changes in the videoconferencing marketspace over the last 5 years have been the move toward cloud based video conferencing platforms. This has meant that most video conferencing peripherals can be used with low cost laptop or desktop platforms paired with USB “Plug and Play” cameras and audio solutions. Many of these platforms integrate both video and audio into a single unit.  Large digital camera sensors (4k or 8k) that allow very large fields of view provide the ability to zoom and pan within the digital image. Additionally, we are seeing many devices utilize active speaker tracking technology where the digital image is cropped to focus on the active speaker using either microphone directionality or image processing. Pay particular attention to field of view, color accuracy and the overall clarity of the audio and video.
