The 3 fingertip shot is best captured in the macro shot distance range due to the small and up close nature of the shot. The 3 fingertip image should display the true color of the fingertips and any possible color variations found at the site. Acceptable depth of field in this image should allow for detail to be appreciated in both the skin, nails, and nail structures in all 3 fingertips. Relief between skin and nail beds should also be able to be appreciated. The image should be free of shadows and specular highlighting, especially on the nail surface. At high resolution, this shot should allow for a level of detail that allows the viewer to see individual skin cells. This shot is best obtained with the camera parallel to the fingertips, and with the camera height at the same level as the focal point. This shot is best obtained with the fingers extended, draped, and braced to decrease movement and potential blurring effects.
